Hybrid Festival
of Andros Gastronomy
“Little England”
"Cook up history, taste Andros,
embark on a unique journey of flavors"
The Festival
“Little England” is a hybrid, hands-on gastronomy festival that positions Andros as an authentic culinary destination. Inside elegant mansions and traditional homes, guests cook shoulder-to-shoulder with local women cooks and chefs, uncovering recipes that keep the island’s heritage alive. Old-style communal meals, story-filled discussions, and sensory experiences breathe new life into Andriot cuisine.
Through the hybrid platform Andros Cultural Paths, every event is streamed live, giving audiences worldwide a front-row seat. By spotlighting local products, culture, and the island’s warm-hearted people, the festival weaves a one-of-a-kind tapestry of tradition, flavor, and hospitality.

The Experience
Cook Tradition
Put on an apron, step into 19th-century mansions, and work side-by-side with local home cooks and chefs. From kneading bread in a wood-fired oven to expertly rolling vine-leaf dolmadakia, you’ll take part in every stage of an authentic Andriot recipe. The session ends around large wooden tables where you savour your meal “old-school style” while listening to the stories hidden in every bite.
Taste History
Trace how trade routes, seafaring heritage, and Andros’ fertile plateaus shaped a cuisine full of character. Through live storytelling, bite-sized masterclasses, and tastings, you’ll learn to identify the island’s honeys, wild herbs, and cheeses—and understand how each product is woven into the landscape and its people.
Discover Andros
Stroll through quaint alleys, oregano-scented footpaths, and crystal-clear beaches. While children dive into hands-on activities, you’ll gather local treats and a keepsake that carries the flavour of “Little England” back home.

The Place
Framed by crystalline waters and lush ravines, Andros weaves together a mosaic of striking contrasts. Mountain ridges laced with endless foot-paths give way to olive groves, rivers, and the famed Sariza springs, while pebble beaches—from remote Achla to family-friendly Gialia—invite refreshing sea escapes. Stone bridges, dovecotes, watermills, and tiny chapels whisper centuries of history across villages such as stately Hora, postcard-pretty Batsi, fishing hub Korthi, and the hidden gem of Lamyra.
Within this rich setting the festival unfolds: elegant mansions, farm cottages, and old captains’ houses in scattered hamlets open their doors exclusively to participants. Every cooking session is rooted in the very land that yields its ingredients and in the communities that keep Andros’ flavours alive—turning the entire island into a living workshop of tradition and creativity.

The Organizer
Andros Women’s Association
The Andros Women’s Association was founded in 1985 with the goal of empowering the island’s women and highlighting their social and cultural concerns. Guided by solidarity, it organizes information and prevention initiatives—medical talks, pedagogical seminars, and mental-health days—reaching every age group. At the same time, it nurtures tradition through experiential celebrations, from Klidonas and the Lemon Festival to Christmas caroling and participation in the Expotrof food exhibition.
The Association carries Andriot gastronomy and culture beyond the island’s borders: to the Cycladic Gastronomy Festival “Nikolaos Tselementes,” events of the “Daughters of the Cyclades,” Thessaloniki’s Philoxenia tourism fair, and traditional dance festivals. With projects such as the Half Marathon, the “From Generation to Generation” program, and traditional music workshops, the Andros Women’s Association remains a vibrant force for culture, health, social cohesion, promotion of local products, and sustainable tourism—for the benefit of the wider community.
